Ex-Carolina Panthers Thomas Davis had Break-In and Car Theft

Former Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis posted on Instagram about a theft and crash of his very expensive McLaren luxury automobile.

Davis’ message stated: “What’s up IG family so I need you guys help,” Davis wrote on Instagram. “If any of you recognize either one of these idiots that decided it was good idea to come into my home and go through all of my cars and even steal and wreck my McLaren. I’m offering a cash reward for anyone that can help identify who these guys are! More videos coming later.”

Davis became aware that his McLaren had been stolen from his home in Union County, NC and subsequently wrecked not far away in the neighborhood. His wife, Kelly, reported the incident to the local authorities. Other items were also taken from the property, but police stated no other details were available at the time.

Davis posted photographs of the McLaren 7205S and the extensive damages to the left rear side. The minimum price of a car of this type is $299,000 according to sources. He also posted videos of the wreckage and a life-size cutout of himself in his No. 58 Carolina Panthers jersey.

Davis spent the first 14 years of his career with the Carolina Panthers. He was the Panthers’ leading tackler. He made three Pro Bowl appearances and, in 2015, was named First Team All-Pro. Davis was also the first NFL player in history to undergo three successful ACL surgeries on the same knee. He played his final season with the Washington Football Team under coach Ron Rivera, who is a former Panthers head coach. Davis recently retired as a Carolina Panther in March after signing a one-day contract .

Not only was Davis great on the field, but off the field as well. In 2014, he won the most humanitarian award in sports. Davis was a recipient of the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. The honor was given to him because of his outstanding community service through his Defending Dreams Foundation. The foundations’ main purpose is to enhance the quality of life for underprivileged children.
