The Carolina Panthers completed their last training camp practice in Spartanburg, SC before traveling to Indianapolis. They will have a couple of joint practices with the Colts before their first preseason game on Sunday. Here are several notes from the organization and media that covered Tuesday’s practice.
1. No pads – Tuesday’s practice was not as strenuous as previous ones. It was on the lighter side. The practice was close to a walk-through situation. Players wore shorts and shells and were without pads.
2. Upgrades for offensive linemen – Starting center Matt Paradis, who had a back injury and left tackle Cameron Erving, nursing a bad shoulder, were seen wearing green jerseys. This means that they are getting better and close to being 100%. Right tackle Taylor Moton took Erving’s reps again.
3. Jeremy Chin shines again – Second-year safety Jeremy Chin has been hard at work breaking up passes and intercepting them throughout the entirety of training camp. Tuesday, Chin showed off his ball hawking skills again, picking off Sam Darnold’s pass that was meant for tight end Dan Arnold.
4. Looking over options – The Panthers most likely will not use running back Christian McCaffrey or wide receiver D.J. Moore as kick returners, but they are good backup options, if needed. At practice today, they took punt returner responsibilities along with receivers David Moore and C.J. Saunders.
The Carolina Panthers have Wednesday off, then they have joint practices with the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday and Friday.
