DALLAS, Texas – Following a pair of home victories over Monmouth and USC Upstate, Charlotte men’s basketball freshman, Aly Khalifa has earned the Conference USA Freshman of the Week Award, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Khalifa averaged 10 points, five rebounds and a pair of assists in his first two career appearances for the 49ers this past week.
Against Monmouth, Khalifa scored 11 points, pulled down five rebounds and went a near-perfect, 7-of-8 from the foul line to help lead Charlotte to a tight, 68-66 victory over the Hawks in its season-opener.
Against USC upstate, scored an effective nine points, hauled in five more rebounds and dished out a trio of assists to give the 49ers a 12-point victory and their first, 2-0 start under current head coach, Ron Sanchez.
Khalifa earned his first C-USA weekly honor, after redshirting last season and seeing his first career collegiate action against Monmouth and Upstate.
Khalifa and the Niners return to action for a Thursday night encounter with in-state foe, Appalachian State. Tipoff from Boone is slated for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
