In a close rivalry matchup, Duke beat UNC 63-57. Kyle Filipowski, Jeremy Roach, and Tyrese Proctor had double-figure performances on Saturday night to help improve their overall record to 17-6. After defeating the Tar Heels, the Blue Devils’ home record stands at 12-0, tying Miami, and their conference record is 8-4.
Despite the loss, the Tar Heels had four key double-figure performances from Armando Bacot, Leaky Black, RJ Davis, and Caleb Love. Bacot recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Black had 13 points and 10 rebounds. These two were the only Tar Heels with double-double performances.
Pete Nance struggled offensively, shooting 1-10 from the field and 0-5 from three-point range.

Scheyer discussed the difference between being a player in this rivalry and coaching in it: “It’s a different feeling. As a player, it’s a special feeling. But, when you see this crowd, you can’t help but feel special.”
At the post-game press conference, Tar Heels head coach Hubert Davis expressed how proud he was of his team despite the loss: “I’m proud of everyone. I love these kids. I told them that one of the difficult parts of life is when you do everything right, but the outcome may still not work out.”
Duke will face Miami at the Watsco Center on Monday, February 6th at 7:00 PM EST. UNC will face Wake Forest at Joel Coliseum on Tuesday, February 7th at 7:00 PM EST.
