Braves Begin Series Against Dodgers Tonight

By: Emma Ann Lay

The Atlanta Braves begin a series against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Truist Park in Atlanta tonight after a home series victory against the Seattle Mariners over the weekend.

The Braves look to continue their streak of series wins after defeating the Texas Rangers and the Mariners in the last week. The Braves lost game two on Saturday 7-3 after winning game one on Friday 6-2.

However, the Braves came back to secure the series in game three yesterday against the Mariners 3-2 with seven hits to the Mariners’ three. LHP Jared Shuster was credited with his first career victory after pitching seven strikeouts in six
innings in yesterday’s series finale.

However, the Dodgers are coming off a tougher weekend in St. Louis after losing the series to the Cardinals 10-5 in game four yesterday. The series loss to the Cardinals yesterday endangers their standing in the NL West as the Arizona Diamondbacks won their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates leading to a 27-20 overall record.

The Braves are still missing LHP Max Fried with a left forearm strain and added LHP Dylan Lee to the injury list after a left shoulder inflammation during his appearance against the Rangers on May 16th. Dylan Lee’s absence will be compensated by reinstating LHP Lucas Luetdge who has been out on the injury list since April 17th with left biceps tendinitis.

This will be long-time Braves’ first baseman and fan-favorite Freddy Frieeman’s second return to Truist Park since his move to the Dodgers. A loss for the Dodgers tonight would risk their first-place standing in the NL West, but a win for the Braves would strengthen their early season lead in the NL East.

Game one of the series will is tonight and game 2 will air on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte at 7:05 tomorrow.
