MLB All-Star Game Coverage Begins On 730 The Game At 7pm

The 2023 MLB All-Star game will commence Tuesday night. The American League and the National League will go head to head in Seattle at the T-Mobile Park. The American League leads the series 47-43-2 with a nine-game winning streak. 

The biggest stars of the game will have all eyes on them. For the AL, it’s Shohei Ohtani. For the NL, Ronald Acuña Jr. will be under the spotlight. 

American League  

Looking for his tenth consecutive All-Star win, Dusty Baker will lead the AL in Seattle. Baker is the manager for the defending World Series Champion, the Astros, and it will be his third year managing the All-Star game. 

Not only is the league’s manager elite in his own way, the two-way player Ohtani will be a highlight of the game. He leads the majors with 32 home runs and has recorded 71 RBI as a hitter. Although he has 132 strikeouts on the mound, he will not be pitching for the game. 

Randy Arozarena, the Home Run Derby runner-up, will bat third for the AL. Although he lost to Vlad Guerrero Jr. in the Derby, Arozarena put on quite the display. The Tampa Bay left fielder slammed a total of 82 home runs, the second most of any Derby participant ever.

National League 

For the NL, Rob Thomson will head the team for the All-Star game. Thomson is the Phillies manager in his first full season managing in the big-league. 

The NL will not shy away from the AL, starting the lineup with Ronald Acuña Jr. The Atlanta Braves right fielder has hit 21 home runs and stolen 44 bases this year. He became the first player in history to record 20 home runs, 40 stolen bases and 50 RBIs before the All-Star break. 

Following Acuña, three Dodgers will meet the plate; Freddie FreemanMookie Betts and JD Martinez. Freeman has hits in seven of his last eight games and has played in all 89 games. 

For Betts, this will be his fifth appearance in the All-Star game. Freeman and Betts are known to be a dangerous 1-2 punch in the majors.
