The Atlanta Braves are set to try and take a 2-1 series lead in game three of the NLDS against Philadelphia tonight. After a scoreless game one dominated by Phillies pitching, Atlanta bounced back in game two by a score of 5-4 highlighted by late game heroics from 3B Austin Riley and OF Michael Harris II’s double-play to end the game. Riding the momentum of this, how does Atlanta go into Philadelphia and secure a win?
It has been announced that Braves SP Bryce Elder will be on the mound for Atlanta while veteran Aaron Nola will be pitching for the Phillies. Elder, who went 12-4 in 2023 with a 3.81 ERA, gives Atlanta a solid starter for the day.

Atlanta’s bats must come alive like they did near the end of game two for SP Elder to have a solid chance at going a decent number of innings. The key to this game is going to be the comfort level of Elder and the ability to build a lead for him to build confidence with. As we have seen, a confident Bryce Elder can provide exceptional pitching for Atlanta and go deep into the game.
The Braves bullpen may have to step up if this is not the case. It has been reported that Snitker will have the entire bullpen healthy and at his disposal. It has also been reported that Braves 2B Ozzie Albies will not be playing unless he is substituted as a pinch runner to nurse his right pinkie. 2B Vaughn Grissom will make the start in his place.
