Vikings WR Addison Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

Just six days after his teammate, Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson was tragically killed, along with two others, in a Maryland car accident, Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Friday near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the California Highway Patrol confirmed to NFL.com.

At approximately 11:06 p.m. PT on Friday, the Los Angeles Communications Center was alerted that there was a disabled vehicle blocking lanes of traffic on I-105. When a California Highway Patrol officer arrived on the scene, a white Rolls-Royce was spotted with Addison asleep behind the wheel. Following a DUI investigation, Addison was arrested at 11:36 p.m. He was then released from custody two hours later on Saturday at 1:36 a.m.

“We are aware of Jordan Addison’s arrest this past Friday and are currently gathering more information regarding the incident,” the Vikings said in a statement, which was obtained by NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero.

As stated previously, the incident occurred less than a week after Addison’s teammate, Khyree Jackson, and two others were killed in a car crash in which alcohol was thought to be a contributing factor, according to Maryland State Police investigators.

This is not his first rodeo in this type of situation. It is the second consecutive offseason that Addison has found himself in legal trouble on the road. In July 2023, he was cited for speeding and reckless driving by the Minnesota State Patrol for going at an excessive rate of speed, 140 mph in a 55-mph zone.

Addison, 22 years-of-age, was drafted No. 23 overall out of USC in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Vikings. He completed his first NFL season by hauling in 70 receptions for 911 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, stepping in as Kirk Cousins favorite target, when Justin Jefferson was injured.

Late last year, Vikings offensive coordinator Wes Phillips was detained on a Minnesota freeway, and ultimately his blood alcohol level was found to be 0.10. Phillips pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of misdemeanor careless driving and had to forfeit $378 in fines. In response to his actions, the organization slapped him with a three-week unpaid suspension, which Phillips served this spring.

Vikings veterans are scheduled to report for training camp on Tuesday, July 23.
