Former NFL QB Cutler Faces DUT, Weapons Charges

Former NFL star quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested and taken into custody for driving under the influence in Franklin, Tennessee, on Thursday night, according to WGN.

According to police, the 41-year-old Cutler was involved in a minor traffic accident after allegedly rear-ending another vehicle. He reportedly had slurred speech and refused to subject himself to field sobriety tests before being taken to a local hospital and having a blood sample drawn through a warrant.

A police search of Cutler’s vehicle discovered two guns in his possession, including a loaded pistol.

Cutler allegedly offered the other driver $2,000 to not get the authorities involved and then attempted to leave the scene.

Cutler was later taken into custody and charged with DUI, failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision, implied consent and possession of a handgun while under the influence.

After being booked shortly before 7:00 p.m. into Williamson County Jail, Cutler was released nearly three hours later, at 9:59 p.m. on a $5,000 bond.

Cutler has immersed himself in the media space and hosts a podcast following his divorce in 2020 from reality star and TV host Kristin Cavalleri. Since then, he has made headlines for his farm life in Tennessee and has given his opinion on a several Bears moves.

Cutler was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2008 at the age of 25 while playing for the Denver Broncos. Symptoms included unexplained weight loss, fatigue, and shakiness.

In 2021, he let the world into his personal life and was vulnerable, revealing he had started suffering from some of the symptoms associated with Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, better known as CTE.

Cutler was the No. 11 overall draft pick out of Vanderbilt University by the Broncos in 2006. He played 12 years in the NFL with the Broncos, Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins. Cutler had a career 52-52 win-loss record with the Bears in eight seasons.

He retired after the 2017 campaign.
