Former Triple Crown winner Cooper Kupp has found his new home in the NFL. The former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver has agreed to terms with the Seattle Seahawks, CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones reports. Kupp is signing a three-year, $45 million deal, according to ESPN.
Kupp, 31 years old, was officially released by the Rams on Wednesday afternoon at the start of the new league year, but his exit from the ‘City of Angels’ was known weeks in advance. In early February, Kupp took to his social media platform to announce that the Rams front office informed him of the difficult news that they were going to move in a different direction, either by trade or outright release. After being unsuccessful in finding a trade partner due to his large salary, Kupp was simply let go. His breakup from Los Angeles grew even more obvious after the team signed former New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams, who is from California, in free agency on Sunday.
That release then paved the way for Kupp to hit the open market and ultimately land with the Seahawks, who are in desperate need of receiver help after releasing 10-year veteran Tyler Lockett and trading DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Kupp grew up roughly 140 miles southeast of Seattle in Yakima, Washington, then attended college at Eastern Washington. Kupp entered the league as a raw third-round draft pick of the Rams back in 2017 out of Eastern Washington. Throughout his tenure with the Rams, he developed into one of the more reliable pass catchers in the league when healthy. The peak of Kupp’s greatness came in 2021 when he earned first-team All-Pro honors after a regular season where he won the triple crown, pacing the league in catches (145), receiving yards (1,947), and receiving touchdowns (16).
Even better, Kupp was a vital piece in the Rams championship run that season as they won Super Bowl LVI and the wideout won Super Bowl MVP honors.
While Kupp is not playing to that level as he enters the twilight of his career, he is certainly still a force to be reckoned with by an opposing secondary. Last season, he hauled in 67 balls for 710 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games played.
For his career, Kupp has totaled 634 catches, 7,776 receiving yards, and 57 touchdowns in 104 regular season games played.
Kupp’s addition is the latest move in a drastic retooling of the Seahawks’ offense. They traded quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders then signed Sam Darnold as his replacement on Monday. As stated previously, Seattle also released Lockett and traded Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The MVP of Super Bowl LVI, Kupp joins Marquez Valdes-Scantling (one year, up to $5.5 million) as Seattle’s recent additions at wide receiver behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who had 1,130 yards in 2024 as the No. 1 target, in his second season.
