Harbaugh is not going anywhere anytime soon.
Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh is staying put, at least for the next few years. The Ravens announced Friday they have reached a three-year contract extension with Harbaugh. The terms were not yet disclosed.
Harbaugh, 62 years-of-age, has been the Ravens head coach since 2008. He won Super Bowl XLVII after the 2012 season, over his brother Jim Harbaugh, who was then the San Francisco 49ers coach, and was named NFL Coach of the Year for the 2019 season. He has a sparkling record of 172-104 in the regular season and 13-11 in the playoffs.
He is the team’s all-time winningest head coach with a 185-115 record over 17 seasons. As stated previously, Harbaugh guided the Ravens to a Super Bowl title in 2012. His 12 playoff appearances are the second most in the league behind Andy Reid (14) since he arrived in Baltimore.
The Ravens have become one of the most well-run and respected organizations since relocating from Cleveland in 1996. Over the past 29 years, the Ravens have had a trio head coaches, Ted Marchibroda, Brian Billick, who also won a Super Bowl in 2000 and Harbaugh, two general managers, Ozzie Newsome and Eric DeCosta and two owners, Art Modell and Steve Bisciotti.

The Ravens have endured just two losing seasons in Harbaugh’s tenure, when his starting quarterbacks Joe Flacco and Lamar Jackson suffered season-ending injuries in 2015 and 2021.
Harbaugh is the second-longest tenured NFL coach behind the Steelers’ Mike Tomlin, who completed his 18th season in the ‘Steel City’, Pittsburgh. No other coach has been with his current team for more than 12 years.
Baltimore has been an outstanding regular season team for the last two years under Harbaugh with two-time MVP Jackson under center. However, they lost in the divisional round to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills last year and the AFC Championship game to the Kansas City Chiefs after the 2023 season. The Ravens are optimistic that continuity and stability at the head-coaching position can get them over the hump in the brutal AFC. It will not be a cake walk, but with Jackson at quarterback they are always contenders.
Harbaugh is one of just five coaches in NFL history to lead his team to the postseason at least a dozen times over his first 17 seasons, joining Pete Carroll, Bud Grant, Mike Holmgren and Mike McCarthy, who all also did it 12 times.
With Harbaugh’s new deal, the Ravens erased one of the bigger question marks surrounding the championship-caliber team. By returning 19 starters, the Ravens have the third-best odds to win the Super Bowl this season (+650), according to ESPN BET.
