The 2024 NFL trade deadline has gotten off to a spicy start, marking a critical decision day for all 32 teams around the league.
With the cutoff approaching fast, Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, teams are down to their last chance to make a significant in-season shake-up, whether that is making a splash for an established veteran or shipping one out of town to increase their draft capital or improve their salary-cap outlook. Several franchises have already been active and taken advantage by engineering deals for notable names, and more could be on deck in the hours ahead.
Here are some of the latest deals:
Rams Send CB Tre’Davious White to Ravens – There was no place in Hollywood for Tre’Davious White. White is getting another fresh start and a change of scenery. The Los Angeles Rams are trading the two-time Pro Bowl cornerback to the Baltimore Ravens, a source with knowledge of the deal told USA TODAY Sports’ Tyler Dragon. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the trade was not yet official.
The Rams will receive a 2026 seventh-round pick while sending back a 2027 seventh-round pick.
White, 29 years old, has taken the field in four games this season but been inactive and a healthy scratch since his last appearance in late September. The Rams granted him permission to look for a trade in October.
“He’s been such a pro about the way he’s handled obviously a not-ideal situation for him,” Rams coach Sean McVay said after White’s request. “If you guys saw the way he’s practiced, the way that he’s been a pro in every sense of the word, and approaches some things where, he hasn’t been active the last three weeks. Guy wants an opportunity to be able to compete, and we love him here. We’d like to be able to keep him here, but if that is something that he and his agent want to be able to explore, we’re obviously respectfully understanding of that. And so, the answer is yes, we’ve allowed them to be able to talk to some teams to see if that’s a possibility.”

In Baltimore, he will join a secondary in desperate need of help, surrendering a league-worst 280.9 passing yards per game.
Steelers Secure Edge Rusher Preston Smith from Packers – The Pittsburgh Steelers are not done just yet and refuse to sit on their loreals at the NFL trade deadline. After locking up veteran wide receiver Mike Williams from the New York Jets earlier in the day, Pittsburgh pulled off another Mike Tomlin special and agreed to a deal to acquire edge rusher Preston Smith from the Green Bay Packers.
Smith, who turns 32 later this month, has only recorded 2 ½ sacks this season but has only been on the field for 54% of the Packers’ defensive snaps as part of a pass rusher committee. He is signed through 2026, with a base salary of $12 million in each of the next two years. His sudden departure form ‘Title Town’ could place a bigger burden on 2023 first-round pick Lukas Van Ness and Kingsley Enagbare.
Steelers Land Their Wide Receiver in Mike Williams – The Pittsburgh Steelers are being aggressive and have made their long-awaited move to address their wide receiver depth. The Steelers on Tuesday agreed to a deal to acquire Mike Williams from the New York Jets in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round draft pick, according to multiple reports.
Williams, 30 years old, could never get on the same page and could not find connection with quarterback Aaron Rodgers after signing with the Jets this offseason, with the veteran signal caller throwing the pass catcher under the bus for running the wrong route on a play that would seal a loss against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills with pick. Both teams were fighting for first place in the division at the time. He had a modest 12 catches for 166 yards this season, his first back from a torn ACL suffered in September 2023.
Commanders Trade for CB Marshon Lattimore – The Washington Commanders, who are sitting at 7-2 atop the NFC East Division, were one of the few teams that were quiet and had yet to make a significant move at the trade deadline. But that all changed Tuesday, as the team made a deal to acquire New Orleans Saints cornerback and 4-time Pro Bowler Marshon Lattimore. The two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs were also interested in him, according to multiple reports.
Lattimore fills one of Washington’s biggest positional weaknesses. Opposing quarterbacks have a generous 103.9 rating against the Commanders defense through Week 9, which ranks 28th in the NFL.
