The Carolina Panthers started their 3-day mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. They invited five free agents who were either high draft picks or veterans in the league for observations and tryouts.
One of the individuals that was brought in was veteran safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. He was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft and was the 21st overall pick. Clinton-Dix made the Pro Bowl in 2016. He also played for the Chicago Bears and the Washington Football Team before being released by the Dallas Cowboys in 2020.
The Panthers have been searching for safety help since the season ended. They signed safety Lano Hill, a former Seattle Seahawk, after a tryout at the rookie minicamp.
The Panthers are also taking a look at veteran running back T.J. Yeldon. He was a 2015 second-round draft pick, 36th overall, by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Yeldon last played with the Buffalo Bills in 2020.
26 year old kicker Zani Gonzalez was also present at the tryouts. He played for the Arizona Cardinals for the last three seasons. Gonzalez was drafted and played with the Cleveland Browns in 2017.
Safety Tenny Adewusi will also be on hand for the week. He is an undrafted free agent who spent time in the New York Giants training camp in 2019. He was in the XFL in 2020 before it disbanded.
Wide receiver Rashard Davis, who played one game for the Tennessee Titans and was released in May of 2021, was at the minicamp on Tuesday for tryouts. He also has been with a few different practice squads such as, the Eagles, Raiders and Chiefs.
In other Panther news, wide receiver Robby Anderson returned to the team Tuesday after being a no-show to voluntary OTAs.
There were several key players in red no-contact jerseys, which means they are not allowed to get hit. Among them were defensive end Brian Burns and linebacker/safety Jeremy Chinn.
