Markquis Nowell Had An Outstanding Senior Season

Despite losing in the elite 8 appearance against Florida Atlantic 79-76, 5’8 Kansas State guard Markquis Nowell had a phenomenal senior season. 

Nowell, 23, finished the 2022-23 season averaging 17.6 points 3.5 rebounds and 8.3 assists. 

Nowell was selected as a AP Third-Team All-American. Nowell and teammate Keyontae Johnson became the first duo in school history to achieve this honor. 

Nowell scored a career​ high 36 points in early January during the regular season in a victory win over Texas. He finished with a new NCAA tournament record of 19 assist in their Sweet-16 victory over Michigan State, previously held by UNLV’s Mark Wade in 1987.

Nowell gave a brief breakdown on FAU’s advantage during their matchup and the pride in the Wildcats despite their loss against FAU.

“I feel they were scrappier than we were. They got a lot of 50 50 balls. I feel they wanted it more. My guys competed ​at a high level. We were picked to finish last in the Big 12. We made a historic run in March I couldn’t be more grateful and thankful.”
