This week’s athlete in the spotlight features Michael Kaden Robinson from Claremont, North Carolina. The 6’1, 185 junior from Bunker Hill High School is a standout (RB/MLB) for the Bunker Hill Bears varsity football team. Robinson’s versatility on both sides of the ball and his ability to be a ballhawk at middle linebacker, played a crucial part in Bunker Hill’s return to the North Carolina state playoffs. One of the most impressive observations when evaluating Kaden Robinson, is how the Bunker Hill ground game almost completely ran through him; and he would still wreak havoc on opposing offenses. Kaden led the Bears in several offensive categories, including 56 rushing attempts on the season (via maxpreps.com) that produced over 327 total rushing yards this season. He also led the defense with 71 tackles, and 4 recovered fumbles. Robinson’s success as a multi-faceted, two-way player earned him Northwestern 2A All-Conference honors in each of the past two seasons. In Bunker Hills week 4 matchup against East Burke High School Kaden exploded for 19 total tackles, and earned him his second career WNNC 101.3 Golden Helmet award. He has also been the recipient of the Catawba Valley Farm Bureau athlete of the week award. After seeing the awards that Kaden had collected over the past two seasons, I asked what was still motivating him each day? Kaden replied “My family is without a doubt my motivation. I want to make them proud every single day. My Dad always taught me to strive to be a better person each day on and off the field, so that’s my mindset everyday. How do i get better?” Kayden will get a chance to matchup with elite high school talent, after earning an exclusive invite to the National Preps Collegiate Camp on May 29th.
